The Presidency is yet to confirm the reports of the arrest of a Presidential body guard, Corporal Hassan Aminu  found to be “linked to Boko Haram.” Per second news reported:

A member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s security guard linked to the terror group Boko Haram has been arrested.

The suspected Boko Haram member has strong links to the deputy leader of the Wilāyat Gharb Ifrīqīyyah terror group.

According to Frontiernews the Army Corporal Hassan Aminu has been arrested.

Preliminary investigation Wednesday morning by Per Second News shows that the NSA’s office has began the complete overhaul of the President’s security agents.

Aminu, is strongly linked to the leaders of the Boko Haram cell and was nabbed before he could carry out any plot.

The fate of the Boko Haram informant arrested at the Presidential Villa is unclear, as he was an integral part of the presidential security.

Some in Abuja see the arrest as illustrative of the disconnect between the leaders of security agencies in the country at a time when they are supposed to be allies in the fight against Boko Haram — instead of hunting down the support network and providing a secure nation they are involved in secret power tussle.

National Accord reports:

The Presidency has completely overhauled the Presidential security apparatus following the arrest and detention of a suspected Boko Haram sympathizer within President Muhamadu Buhari’s bodyguards, Frontiersnews has reported..

Our correspondent’s investigations revealed that security operatives arrested the suspect simply identified as corporal Hassan Aminu, following a high level intelligence, in Abuja.

The suspect who is said to be linked to the leader of the Ansaru Islamic Sect, Khalid Albarnawi, second in command to Abubakar Shekau in the hierarchy of the dreaded Boko Haram Sect, until his arrest was a key member of the Presidential bodyguard.

Albanawi was arrested in April 2016, in Kogi state by a combined effort of security agencies in the country.

A top security source who spoke to our correspondent, on the condition of anonymity said “God was just on our side. If he had killed the president what would we have told Nigerians,” the source who spoke to our correspondent, on the condition of anonymity said.

The source stated further that “following the arrest, the NSA’s office along with other security chiefs have taken it as a point of duty to ensure that security agents serving in the presidential guard are documented in details to avoid any ugly situation”.

The armed forces, police and the department of state security service formed the core from which bodyguards to the president were selected.

“It is not just any security agent that will henceforth serve as presidential body guard. We have taken time to know the family background and social influence of any security operative serving in the presidential Villa because you cannot know those who are sympathetic toward the cause of Boko Haram in the security structure” the source said.
