President Buhari and army chief Tukur Buratai

According to unconfirmed reports, United Nations asked its staff to stay at home following massive cordon and search operation launched by the Nigerian military in their building in Maiduguri.

Sources told this newspaper that the operation started since last night.

A military source told YERWA EXPRESS NEWS that ‘the raid was necessary because of heightening suspicions that the the agency is supporting the Boko Haram insurgents with logistics and weapons.’

The source added that there were suspicions that arms were smuggled into the building and are meant for onward transmission to non-state actors.

The building in Maiduguri is seen heavily cordoned by military personnel.

This has raised tension across the city with some mongering different rumors.

However, no security outfit has officially commented on the issue.
