The I‎jaw Peace Advocates (IPA) has lauded Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State for displaying courage and true leadership in resolving the festering crisis which rocked the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC).

The group noted that Dickson stood up to be counted when it mattered most by intervening in the IYC leadership tussle through the setting up of a committee which submitted its report yesterday that utimately led to the inauguration of the Barr. Oweilaemi Pereotubo led executives.

In a statement released in Port Harcourt by its chairman, Comrade Ibigoni‎ Abel-Kalio, the group said Dickson asserted himself as the highest political leader in the Ijaw Nation by the masterstroke and called on every right thinking Ijaw youth to support the decision of the elders and leaders.

Abel-Kalio maintained that while others watched from a distance with some fueling the‎ crisis for their selfish interest, the Bayelsa state governor took an holistic approach because of his concern for the peace of the IYC and the Ijaw nation.

While thanking members of the committee made up of eminent Ijaw personalities, the IPA chairman also lauded Ijaw‎ leader, Pa E.K Clark for his fatherly role and unbiased disposition in supporting what is truly right.

He charged the new executives to distinguish themselves as they perform their duties for the next three years, pointing out that the Ijaw nation needs responsible leadership at all levels so as to change the narrative.

The IPA leader also took a swipe at immediate past president of the IYC, Udengs Eradiri for contributing to the crisis by refusing to allow a peaceful transition process because of his greed and pomposity.

” It is Udengs Eradiri that brought us to where we are. Because of his selfishness and disrespect for elders of the land. He carried on as if he was a god, brazenly dismissing every‎ attempt to get him do the right thing.

” We are happy that peace has come and we have total confidence in the new exco to do the right thing and take us to the next level” the statement said.
