Why NANS and all other CSOs must remain apolitical ahead of 2015 elections

Comrade Abdulbaqi Aliyu Jari

Allow me a space to call on the current leadership of national association of Nigerian students (NANS), national youth council (NAYOCO), and indeed all other associations, clubs, unions, and all civil society organizations, to please remain neutral, non-partisan and non-biased ahead of the forth coming general election and all other elections in Nigeria and beyond.

National associations and unions are reflection of the composition of our dear nation – with a lot of personal and interest groups, different ethnic and religious background, different language and regional affiliation, as such, for the betterment, peace and righteousness of the association and unions, partisan politics should not, and never be allowed in it as it is capable of destroying the associations and causing serious problem to our dear nation.

Associations of Professionals, students, labour e.t.c have a very long history of struggles, philosophy, and consistency, as such, the forth coming election should not be allowed to destroy that reputation and respect built over many generations. Already some associations and union are fictionalized, while some are going on election in weeks, I call on the incumbent leaders to please ensure a free and fair election, and an amicable and peaceful way of resolving their problems, so that the continuity in Aluta struggles will not rest till Nigeria becomes good , better and best in shaa Allah.

Long live Aluta federation,
Long live associations, unions, and CSO
