President Muhammadu Buhari will spend N18.1 billion on the Presidential Villa in 2016, which is more than the N11.5 billion spent by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

However, President Buhari does plan on spending less than Mr. Jonathan did on food for the first and second families.

It will be recalled that last week, President Buhari presented a N6.08 trillion budget to the National Assembly. The Buhari Administration has argued that most of the monies from the budget will go to the creation of more jobs and economic growth.

Among the items to be purchased with the funds allocated for the Presidential Villa will be BMW saloon cars. The price for these vehicles is believed to be N3.63 billion.

Other expenses include computers, finance software, electrical lighting, and “recreational activities”.

The proposed budget is subject to approval by the National Assembly.
