The baby born with the Qur’an, Abdulwahab Irawo, has been handed a N1m cash gift for his up-keep and a scholarship to the university level.
The president of Islamic Mission for Africa and founder of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Prince Bola Ajibola, handed out the gift to the boy last week when he paid a visit to the baby. This disclosure was made by a Professor of Islamic Studies and director of a non-governmental organization, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Dr. Ishaq Akintola, in a piece titled “Qur’an Baby and Doubting Thomases (Part 2)” and published in his blog. The piece which was post-ed on Tuesday chronicles the different “signs previously revealed by Allah to affirm the authenticity of Islam as His one and only religion”.Said Akintola, in the article: “Something positive happened to the baby born with the Qur’an few days ago. Prince Bola Ajibola, president of the Islamic Mission for Africa and founder, Crescent University, Abeokuta, visited the baby’s family and donated a whopping sum of 1 million naira for the baby’s upkeep. “Not only that, he also awarded a scholarship to the boy up to university level.
His words: “As usual, His Excellency Judge Aji-bola has demonstrated his characteristic foresight, unequaled mien for philanthropy and unrivaled love for Islam. This man re-ally knows where Muslims should put their money.”
Abdulwahab was delivered on Monday, May 7 at a white garment church in Mushin area of Lagos State, with a mini copy of the Holy Quran found in his hand. The birth of the baby ended the rift between his mother, Kikelomo, a Cosmetologist by profession and his father, Alhaji Abdulahi Irawo, who she claimed abandoned her throughout the 11-month pregnancy, fol-lowing her refusal to abort it.
The couple had sat down officially as husband and wife at the grand Islamic naming held in Mushin, Lagos.Kikelomo, who formerly lived with her mother at No 1, Shonde Street in Ijeshat-edo, reportedly moved with the baby to Akogun Villa, his husband’s mansion on Aderibigbe Street, Masha Kilo in Surulere area of La-gos State.

More on story:
His mother, Mrs. Kikelomo Ilori, 32, a Cosmetologist, told P.M.NEWS that he was born on Monday after she had carried the pregnancy for about 10 months. The single mother claimed she was abandoned by her husband who denied responsibility for the pregnancy and encouraged her to abort it. The woman told P.M.NEWS yesterday: “When I refused to abort the pregnancy, he deserted me, saying ‘that is your own problem’.” Mrs. Ilori expressed surprise at the birth of the boy. She added that the nurse who delivered her of the baby was physically challenged, but went about it commendably.
“When my baby was delivered holding a Quran in his hand, the nurse said the Quran should be thrown away. But I insisted my mother must see it before any action could be taken,” Kikelomo, who is a Christian, further explained.
Corroborating the story, Senior Rev. Victoria Yetunde Dada said during the pregnancy, Kikelomo was always coming to her for prayers and counseling.
“I advised her not to abort the pregnancy because she might die in the process. Again, I told her the foetus was sent by God and will be great,” Apostle Mother Dada told our correspondent. Controversy has continued to trail the seemingly spurious claim.
Reacting, Medical Director of Bodet Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, Dr. Bode Tawak said scientifically, it was not possible for a baby to be born holding a Quran.
“How big is the baby’s hand to hold the Quran? How big is the Quran? How did the Quran get into her mother’s womb? I don’t know how a Quran can get into a womb. But there are things you can’t explain,” Dr. Tawak responded. He said while the incident cannot be explained medically, in Nigeria many mysterious things happen. A Kaduna-based medical practitioner, Dr. Munir Yusuf said from a medical point of view, it was not possible, but added that depending on the size of the Quran, it was possible metaphysically.
He explained that if the Quran is small enough to pass through the diameter of the vagina, with the child, it is possible. In the same vein, a herbal medicine practitioner, Chief Dr. Bola Adegunloye believes nothing is impossible, but said too much importance must not be placed on the incident.
