There is sporadic shooting at Federal College of Education (FCE) Kano, beside the school of management studies.
From the information we have thus gathered, it appears to be s a group of armed robbers or terrorists who were being chased by police that were shooting into the air to gain access to escape.
Right now they are been chased around by a team of police.
As at the time of this report, we have no immediate causality figure because the shooting is on going at this moment.
Update:
Reports indicate it was two terror bomb blasts in the campus that left several dead.
Some people who escaped from the area have informed us that the shooting started inside the school premises, they added that from the way things are they believed that scores are dead.
At the moment this news was being relayed, a team of three vehicles of the military with two vehicles of FRSC just passed by our citizen reporter heading toward the direction of the shooting.
Details are very sketchy as the shooting is still on going right now.
This attack is happening right as the nation is focused on a scandal involving the President of CAN, Ayo Ortisejafor, the Federal government, and an Israeli gun runner, who were caught in a 10 million dollar arms-smuggling racket in South Africa.
Update: 13 dead
At least 15 people were killed Wednesday after armed men stormed a Federal College in Kano, the state police commissioner said. The dead include 13 students and two armed attackers. About 47 people were injured, the police said.
Police Commissioner Adenerele Shinaba said the attackers were shot dead by officers after a gun fight. “What happened was that we detected some suspicious movements of some people and we trailed them only for them to open fire around the school resulting to them gaining entry into the premises and started throwing bombs,” he told journalists at the school. He said two AK47 rifles have been recovered. Security has been beefed in the Kano metropolis as armed soldiers patrol the streets, manning key areas.
Witnesses had told PREMIUM TIMES earlier that the explosions occurred at about 1.30pm Wednesday, followed by sporadic gunshots. They said armed men invaded the institution after killing a security personnel at the gate. The attackers later threw improvised explosives at students and shot those who tried to escape. The area has been deserted as residents and students scampered for safety, our reporter said.
