‘Dying’ Boko Haram Kills 15, Attacks Civilian-JTF With IEDs

At least 15 people have been killed and two Boko Haram terrorists arrested in fresh attack on a Borno village yesterday.

The Boko Haram terrorists reportedly stormed the remote village of Mussa in Askira/Uba Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State at about 8pm last night. Witnesses speaking to SaharaReporters said that the terrorists started throwing explosives at civilians, killing at least 11 people and wounding many others.

Boko Haram had previously planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the roads connecting Mussa-Wambio villages. Local vigilante groups coming to assist Mussa residents under attack encountered the IEDs killing four vigilante and injuring six others.

The six injured vigilante are currently receiving treatment at Uba General Hospital, according to sources speaking with SaharaReporters.

The Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) source in Mussa district confirmed the incidents to SaharaReporters. He added that today they have arrested two suspected Boko Haram members with some provisions stolen from the village yesterday.

“It was around 8pm last night when Boko Haram attacked us. We engaged them but later they started throwing explosives at civilians and our members. They killed 9 people including 3 children and scores were wounded.”

He added after they ransacked the village, they looted foodstuffs and livestock from the area. He said that, “it is just unfortunate that our people have started coming ahead of raining season these bad people came and attacked us again.”

He disclosed that Civilian JTF members had gone after them today and arrested two suspects in Kilisha village in Damboa LGA.
