IMN Urges Those In Authority To Eschew Abuse Of Office

NewsRescue

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) under the leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky wishes to congratulate Nigerians, especially the the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of this year’s Eid el-Fitr celebrations peacefully.

We call on the muslims to imbibe the lessons taught by the 30 day Ramadan fasting namely love for fellow humans, perseverance, spiritual worships and piety. We hope these lofty virtues will subsist beyond Ramadan.

We should also uphold the virtues of good neighborliness and eschew intolerance of other peoples opinion, in our day to day dealings with fellow countrymen.

However to those in positions of authority they should keep the trust entrusted on them and avoid abuse of power and disregard for due process in carrying out their assignments.

On this happy occasion, we would like to emphasize that Islam means total and unconditional submission to the will of Allah,  of which peaceful coexistence with our neighbors is among. The Muslim ummah should strive to rid itself of the shroud of violence, its enemies try to associate Islam with by all means.

We commend the press, international human rights activists and organisations that have stood by us in our quest for justice to the 1000+ victims of Nigerian Army’s attack on members of the Islamic Movement in Zaria December last year. We are really grateful to you, and hope you will still be with us the struggles continue.

Let us also use this opportunity to reaffirm our resolve to use all available legitimate and peaceful means of expressing our grievances, even though we have seen many intelligence reports trying to stage false flag attacks and blame it on the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.

We call on all Nigerians irrespective of religious divide that we should remain steadfast and prayerful that may Allah intervene so that justice will not only be done, but seen to be done in the case of the genocide perpetrated by the Nigerian Army against armless civilians in Zaria, for we are aware that no justice, no peace for any society.

As we look forward to the forthcoming months, we still demand for the unconditional release of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and all other members of the Islamic Movement in detention.
