The federal government and Nigerians have been told to hold the President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor responsible for the recent crisis that led to the death of hundreds of people in Kaduna state.

The Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria and the Council for Imams and Ulama who gave the charge at a press conference in Kaduna today called on the federal government and indeed all the nation’s security agencies to declare Oritsejafor as “number one enemy of peace in Nigeria and take appropriate action against him.”

“The two councils believed that, the reckless and careless utterances of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the President Christians Association of Nigeria was the major cause of the crisis in Kaduna State”, the Kaduna state chapters of the two Islamic leadership organisations declared.

Chairman of Council for Imams and Ulama, Sheik Usman Abubakar who signed the text of the address and read it to newsmen in Hausa Language quoted  Oritsejafor as having said that, ‘the Christians would no longer talk but will hit back without warning and the Christians would not stop until the country disintegrates’.

According to them, “we call on the federal government and all the security agencies to declare Pastor Oritsejafor as ‘number one enemy of peace in Nigeria and take appropriate action against him. If not, it would be assumed by the Muslims that he has support of government”.
