Ndi-Igbo Germany (NIG), the umbrella Organisation of all Igbo ethnic groups and Associations in the Federal Republic of Germany has sent its Congratulatory Message to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. According the National Coordinator, Chief Joe Mmeh, we rejoice with Gen. Buhari on his success at the Polls in the just concluded presidential elections in Nigeria and urge him to be President of all Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion and political affiliation. Electioneering campaign has come and gone, it is now time for national healing and governance. In every civilized society, no one takes personal all that is said during electioneering campaigns, so Gen. Buhari shall look forward to unite Nigerians and avoid advice from all former Office Holders who brought hardship and corruption into governance in Nigeria.

Ndi-Igbo Germany extend its warm congratulations to Gen. Buhari as the President – elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as to the people of Nigeria for peacefully exercising their sovereign and democratic right to elect their leaders. The choices Nigerians have made is a tribute to their courage, as well as their determination to safeguard their dignity and Keep Nigeria firmly on the road to development. We salute the outgoing president of Nigeria, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for establishing a legacy of democratic freedom and peaceful expression of a vibrant democracy.

Ndi-Igbo Germany advises Gen. Buhari against tribalism or “Winner take it all” and to be magnanimous in Victory by forming a Government of National Unity and picking the best Brains among Nigerians both home and abroad. Meritocracy instead of Mediocrity shall be the Watchword on how to move Nigeria forward economically, politically and technologically. We believed that the Almighty God that gave Gen. Buhari Victory at this moment in our History wants him to rebuild Nigeria for good, we therefore urge him to institute fairness, justice and equity for all.

Ndi-Igbo Germany, unequivocally supports the indivisibility of Nigeria but condemns in clear terms any sort of domination of any part of the constituting federation of Nigeria on another. We therefore  re-instate our demand for true Federalism and greater autonomy to the Zones inNigeria and that Federal Allocations and Amenities shall be shared on equal proportion among the Six (6) Zones.  We thanks Gen. Buhari for his promise during the Campaign to build a second Niger Bridge where no Tollgates shall be paid by Ndi-Igbo and other Nigerians. As a matter of fact Ndi-Igbo cannot and shall not accept any Bridge where Tollgates shall be paid for, a system not obtainable in others parts of Nigeria. We also demand that roads in Southeast, Enugu International Airport and Trade Fair Complex be completed without any delay. Seaports and Dry Ports in the Southeast established and made functional. We are short of words when we see the lopsided nature of distribution of amenities by the Federal Government, and the marginalisation of Ndi-Igbo, 45 years since the Civil War ended and we hope that Gen. Buhari shall correct these inbalances.
