NewsRescue- A purported leader of Nigeria’s Boko Haram terror group, operating out of Maiduguri in the North East and Niger republic, Abubakar Shekau in a Youtube video release defended the insane acts of his group. Boko Haram which according to the group means, ‘Western civilization is bad’, has of late been responsible for a spate of bombings and murderous attacks against Christians in Northern Nigeria. The latest attacks include the 2011 Christmas Day church bombings that killed 49 Christians and other passerby’s. In the 15 min Youtube video release, speaking in Hausa language, Abubakar Shekau flanked on either side with a Kalashnikov rifle, justified the attack of innocent Christians and other recent attacks as being a direct response to the killings of Muslims in cities such as Jos, Kaduna, Zangon Kataf and Tafawa Balewa. He said, (translated):
“We are also at war with Christians because the whole world knows what they did to us,”
“They killed our fellows and even ate their flesh in Jos,” he added, referencing an incident in the tumultuous Plateau state where Christians killed and ate rivals after religious clashes.”

“Everyone has seen how we were treated, people have seen what has happened between us and armed security agents and their accomplices who give them information about us,”
Mentioning president Goodluck Jonathan by name, he bragged that the security agencies could not decimate his group. He also attacked Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, whom he condemned for his call on Christians to defend themselves.
…and other mad man rants.
It will be recalled that this same Idiot claimed responsibility for the 7 coordinated Jos and Borno Christmas eve attacks in Nigeria in 2010 that claimed the lives of 32 innocent individuals and left over 1oo injured.
The UN leader Ban Ki-moon met Nigeria’s Foreign Minister Olugbenga Ashiru on Tuesday, the two met just after the release of a UN report which hinted links between Boko Haram, and Al-Qaeda’s affiliate in North Africam (AQIM). AQIM has gotten exponentially more dangerous since the US invasion of Libya with the US-NATO support of the Libyan rebel NTC government which comprises of known Alqaeda and AQIM members. The war with Libya released thousands of deadly weapons, including surface-to-air missiles, RPGs and other explosive devices into the Maghreb region available for terrorists, and regional governments, including that of Algeria have complained bitterly about the terrorism risk with the careless US operation against Gaddafi, a regional stabilizer. According to the New York Times:
Algerian security forces had seized 157 different types of munitions ranging from missile-launchers to bullets. It said serial numbers and stamps indicated the materiel was manufactured in France and Britain between 2008 and 2011
Obama administration admits working with AlQaeda to overthrow Gaddafi
The Obama administration finally acknowledged Wednesday, Aug. 31 that al Qaeda elements had been fighting in Libyan rebel ranks in last week’s capture of Tripoli. This came about in a cautious remark from the office of President Barack Obama’s terrorism adviser John Brennan: “Some members of the LIFG [Al Qaeda’s Libyan Islamic Fighting Group offshoot] in the past had connections with al Qaeda in Sudan, Afghanistan or Pakistan. Others dropped their relationship with al Qaeda entirely. It seems from their statements and support for establishing a democracy in Libya that this faction of LIFG does not support al Qaeda. We’ll definitely be watching to see whether this is for real or just for show.” source
Change of tactic? Desperation or mere fluctuant madness?
Up until more recently Boko Haram concentrated most of its attacks on Nigerian government installations, killing of note, a governors brother and sacking many police stations. In 2011 their international recognition stepped up with a successful bombing of the UN office in Abuja. There is evident splitting of the radical group as a different sector has in a public announcement separated itself from attacks on Christian innocents.
Who is behind the group?
Nigerians wonder whose interests the group serves. Whether they are the interests of political sponsors within Nigeria seeking destabilization and division of the Nation, and also investigating foreign interests in dividing Nigeria. There is evidence of a foreign interests, the East-West desperate battle for the usurping of Africa, and plans in dividing Nigeria for better control the smaller areas of the resource abundant Nation. In our recent article, we have implored the global media to Stop Giving Boko Haram Media Coverage!
Boko Haram as with all unscrupulous terrorists are definitely attention seekers, bathing and gloating in the immense media attention and ‘recognition’ they get. The local and international media does Nigerians a great disservice by playing to the tune of these common hoodlums. Indeed if the late Lawrence Anini, a popular thief in the 80′s who operated across Nigeria, or any other similar criminal, gave announcements for people to regulate and control their activities, this would not be news and will not earn media attention. Likewise the rants and ‘orders’ of Boko Haram, a fringe, radical criminal group, deserves no media attention, and all their messages should simply go only to the Nigerian security services if this menace is to be controlled.

Muslim stance on Boko Haram activities
The Muslim Holy book, the Quran clearly states:
Qur’an 22:40 [They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right – only because they say, “Our Lord is Allah .” And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might. http://quran.com/22/40
This defines that it is actually the duty of all believers who include,- Muslims, Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, and the like to protect all, bar none, Holy places. The Northern Muslims are once again implored to sacrifice their lives to protect all religious sanctuaries in which ‘Allah (God)’s name is called.
Islam further expresses as obtains in the Holy book, that whoever kills an innocent person, is compared to a person who has killed all of humankind, likewise, whoever saves an person has equivocally saved the entire mankind. We all know the feeling we had for all the innocent victims of the evil of this group, we all felt a part of us die per innocent victim killed in their attacks. Giving them a platform to announce their evil, the reasons for their evil only promotes their success, which is not in the best of our interest.
The Hadith (sayings and acts of the prophet of Islam), also described of these so-called Muslims of the end time:
“A people will come out at the end of times, immature, foolish and corrupt. They will hold the discourse of the best of creation and recite Qur’an, but it will not go past their throats. They will pass through religion the way an arrow passes through its quarry. If you find them, kill them, for verily whoever kills them will have his reward from Allah the Day of Judgment.”

A Clarion call to all Media
Please desist the urge to promote the success of this notorious gang. The more they are promoted and given free publicity and advertisement for their concoctions, the greater their success. If contacted by this group, simply proceed to pass their information on to the Nigerian security services. As media organizations we must consider our risk-benefit ratio. Promoting public fear and chaos, while subvertly contributing to the vicious cycle of hate and violence, and splintering of the Nation is not what the Media is about.
Not belittling the impact of communal terror in Nigeria, in 2011 there were a total of 250 deaths from all forms of terrorism within the Nation. This compares to the number of deaths we have from road transport accidents every 2 months. Of course our high level of deaths from these accidents is due to all levels of neglect and corruption from top level down. This higher level of terrorism actually is a greater risk to human life than that due to the unscrupulous elements the Media gives large audience to, ultimately promoting their agenda.

The Nigerian government is also implored to stand up to their obligations of providing its people with the security they deserve. They should work with all Media organizations toward the safe and secure transmission of sensitive information and guide the Media to alert the public in ways that ensure the security of the citizenry is top priority.
