Nigeria Displaced Persons Loose All In Fire Outbreak

An incident of fire outbreak at about 1:00pm yesterday March 6 has engulfed over 200 houses in Ajiri IDP camp (Camp B) of Mafa local government.

This was confirmed to YERWA EXPRESS NEWS by Abdulkadir Ibrahim, public relations officer of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in a telephone interview.

According to Abdulkadir, ‘the source of the fire is unknown yet but is suspected to be from a firewood in one of the households’.

No incident of loss of life was reported from the outbreak.

Children and women were all rescued.

However, the belongings of about 1,000 displaced persons in the camp were destroyed including food items, Abdulkadir noted.
