PDP loses 5,000 members to APC in Kogi

The People Democratic Party (PDP) at the weekend lost about 5,000 members to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State.

Speaking to a large crowd at the zonal rally of the APC at Anyigba, in the eastern senatorial district of the state where the PDP members defected to the opposition party, former governor of the state Prince Abubakar Audu, described General Muhammadu Buhari, as a “President-elect” waiting to be sworn in on May 29, this year.

Prominent chieftains of PDP who led their supporters into the APC include Air Vice Marshal Saliu Atawodi, former accountant general of the state, Elder Ubolo Okpanachi, former state chairman of PDP, Barrister Dangana Ocheja, Senator Nicholas Ugbane, Samson Ihiabe and former executive chairman of local government service commission, Mallam Sani Ogu among others.

The former governor said the APC has the overwhelming support of Nigerians to lead the country in the next dispensation describing the shift in date of the poll as a postponement of “evil day” for the ruling PDP.

While wondering why the government that said it has delivered on its campaign promises is afraid of election, Audu said the ruling PDP took the decision seeing that defeat was staring them in the face.
