Poll Shows Nigerians Want Buhari/Fashola as Preferred Choice for APC Presidential Ticket

An online poll conducted For The Future Nigeria (FTF), a Political Action Committee (PAC) affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) has shown that Nigeria prefer the combination of former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola as the preferred choice for the Presidential and Vice-Presidential slot of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The poll launched few weeks ago asked Nigerians to choose their preferred combination of President and Vice-President to contest the February 2015 elections on the platform of the APC from a list of party faithfuls.

The poll was conducted online and via SMS, where Tens of thousands of Nigerians from every single state in the country as well as the diaspora participated.

From the analyses of the result, two names featured as the preferred choice for the Presidential slot. They are Muhammadu Buhari and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, while Babatunde Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi and Rochas Okorocha made the list for the vice presidential slot.

The combination a Buhari/Fashola ticket scored 7.25%, while a Kwankwaso/Fashola ticket scored 6.17%. The combination of the Kwankwaso/Amaechi ticket scored 6.09%, while the combination of a Buhari/Rochas ticket scored the lowest point of 4.47%.

Buhari had in the first part of the poll where Nigerians where asked to choose their preferred candidate as the President defeated four others with a score of 32.3% to emerged the preferred choice. He defeated Rabiu Kwankwaso who scored 21.4%, Babatunde Fashola who scored 15.9%, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who scored 6.4% and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who got the lowest score of 5%.

In the vice Presidential Category, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola scored 21.7% to defeat Rotimi Amaechi who scored 17.8% and Rochas Okorocha with a score of 11.7%. Others are former World Bank Vice President, Oby Ezekwesili with a score of 10.8% and Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole with 7.7%.
