The presidential candidate of the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), has alleged that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has already prepared fake police uniforms which would be distributed to trained thugs to intimidate the electorate come Saturday.
Speaking with Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Buhari said, “Information we received from some states revealed that the PDP has planned to arm fake security agents to cause chaos in some polling units so that the election will be cancelled.
“Besides other general issues, the key factor for the success of the election will largely depend on how the security agencies are able to play their roles,” he said.
Buhari therefore, urged the EU election observers to wade into the matter and save the country’s democracy.
Responding, Sani Bello Gamawa, a member of the Jonathan’s re-election campaign committee, said the allegation lacks merit.
“Nigerians don’t need to listen to this sort of allegation because President Jonathan hates violence,” he countered.
