The Niger State government has said with the dwindling economy faced by the country the state has re-establishes a GRAINS BOARD to assist government reduce the rates of poverty and create more job for the youth.
Speaking to newsmen in Minna was the state commissioner for information, culture & tourism Mr. Jonathan Vatsa said the board will assist to checkmate people who act as middle men and are in the habit of exploiting farmers in the state.
The statement while calling on the people of the state especially the farmers to embrace the board in part that government has giving agriculture one of the top most priorities in her administration since the fall of oil price.
The commissioner promised that the government will put everything in place to encourage farmers to achieve their desire goals adding that the good idea of the Grain Board is that whatever famers produce that government will buy from them and the three senatorial district in the state to produce such crops to attract international market in zone A produce rice and banana, B produce yam and zone C is cotton and rice.
He admonished the people to go into mechanized farming that government will simplify ways of farming without stress adding that the government has practically demonstrated its readiness in agriculture transformation including youth and women empowerment as contained in the budget recently presented to the state assembly.
