Tijjaniyya and Shi’ah Are Same, We Bear No Grudges – Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, Largest Muslim Group Leader Says

By Mustapha Usman, Kano

An Islamic scholar and leader of the Tijjaniyya sect, Dahiru Bauchi, has said that Shi’ah and Tijjaniyya sects are the same.

Mr Bauchi stated this while receiving a delegation of Shi’ah followers on a courtesy call at his Kano residence on Monday.

He said both Tijjaniyya and Shi’ah are followers of Prophet Muhammad and lovers of his family.

He added that there was no grudge or disharmony between the two sects.

“Both Tijjaniyya and Shi’ah are the same. We are the same in following prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the love of his family.

“A true Muslim must believe in prophet Muhammad and love his family. So both of us believe in him. So we are the same,” reiterated.

Mr Bauchi further said that the crisis between the two sects was the handiwork of some elements bent on causing disaffection among them.

He stressed that Tijjaniyya was not angry with any Islamic sect, adding that their arms are always open to embrace every Muslim.

He commended the Shi’ah delegation for the visit, describing it as a huge step toward cementing disunity in Islam.

Earlier in a remark, the leader of the Shi’ah delegation, Yakubu Yahya, said they paid the visit to congratulate the Tijjaniyya leader on his completion of this year’s Ramadan Tafsir.

He said Shi’ah adherents hold the revered cleric with high esteem, adding that they were there to further strengthen their ties.
