The Nasir el-Rufai assembled Zaria Judicial inquiry kangaroo panel has adopted the agenda to persecute and ban Shia Islam in Nigeria while abandoning investigating the Zaria massacre incident for which it was allegedly constituted.

The panel was accused of having been constituted if a selection of radical extremist anti-Shia and religious freedom hardline Islamist clerics.

Making submissions, the agenda has been simplistic and salafist: “Shia are bad. Shia are not Muslims. Iran is Nigeria’s enemy. Zakzaky teaches youth that ‘different’ Shia brand of Islam. The army thereby did justice by massacring them. Kill all Shia muslims.”

This has been the opinion of the strategically selected Saudi Arabia typically sponsored agents brought to the panel.

Included in making these depositions have been  former Vice-Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Prof. Abdullahi Mahdi, Muhammed Balarabe from Zazzau emirate, a certain professor Garba Bala of the University of SokotoBashir Adamu Aliyu of the “coalition of Muslim Ulamas,” and others chosen by embattled governor Nasir el-Rufai.

When one professor Dahiru Yahya of Bayero University broke the line and defended the IMN and its freedom from targeted persecution, the panel rose up and called him a Shia Muslim.

While the panel failed to prove militarization of the sect, it maintained this illusion to save governor el-Rufai and Nigeria’s military chief Tukur Buratai who stand accused of murdering hundreds of unarmed Shia minority Muslims and depositing them in single mass graves.
