Ayo Adebanjo, a leader of Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-cultural group, says if Nigeria is not restructured now, it will collapse.
Adebanjo, who is a second republic politician and staunch follower of the late Obafemi Awolowo, said those opposed to the restructuring of Nigeria were the real enemies of the country.
He said this at the Biafra conference in Abuja on Thursday.
The elder statesman said the question of Biafra was not about separation but about living together on agreed terms.
“The question of Biafra is not about separation, the question is how we want to live in peace on agreed terms. Anybody opposed to restructuring is an enemy of Nigeria,” he said.
“That is why I put it to northerners that are opposed to restructuring, you cannot be more northerner than the late Sardauna who was not opposed to it.
“Our problem remains the military. The military did not allow us to settle our problems.
“My final comment is, restructure now or Nigeria will not exist.”
