Biden wanted to freeze Germany – Seymour Hersh

According to renowned American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, the US conducted a covert operation to destroy the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines because it was concerned that Germany would take a hard line against Russia. He released a shocking report last week that blamed Washington for several blasts that severely damaged energy conduits in September 2022.

Hersh suggested in an interview published on Tuesday by the Berliner Zeitung that Washington carried out the sabotage because the Ukraine conflict was “not going well for the West.” He went on to say that Nord Stream 2 was “suspended by Germany itself, not international sanctions, and the US was afraid Germany would lift sanctions due to a cold winter.”

The point is that Biden has decided to let the Germans suffer through the winter. The US President would rather see Germany freeze than see Germany possibly stop supporting Ukraine.

According to Hersh, the bombs were planted during NATO naval exercises in the Baltic Sea in June 2022. “However, the White House became concerned at the last minute. The President stated that he was afraid to do so. He changed his mind and issued new orders so that he could remotely detonate the bombs at any time,” he explained.

In explaining possible motives for the attacks, Hersh suggested that some Americans believed the operation would “give the American economy a long-term boost,” whereas the White House was more concerned with politics. “I think they’ve always been obsessed with re-election, and they wanted to win the war… they wanted Ukraine to win magically,” he explained.

On September 26, a series of underwater explosions damaged Nord Stream 1 and 2, which connected Russia and Germany beneath the Baltic Sea. On February 8, Hersh, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, published a report accusing the United States of carrying out the attack. The White House called the claim “utterly false and complete fiction.”

However, two weeks before the Ukraine conflict began, Biden stated at a press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel that “if Russia invades… we will bring an end” to Nord Stream 2.

Following the report, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov called for “an open international investigation into this unprecedented attack,” claiming that instead, Russia is witnessing “attempts to silently wind down” such investigations.
