The group in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Yusuf Amoke frowned at the long silence of the vice president on the plight of the north, adding that his antecedents is proof that he is a leader who is out of touch with the reality of his region and who has deliberately distanced himself from the plight of his people.
The group which passed a vote of no confidence on Sambo called on him to quickly retrace is steps and kick-start a realistic peace resolution process involving elders, youth leaders, political leaders and all other relevant stakeholders in the region.
The statement reads:
A time comes in the life of every nation where youths arise to correct the irresponsibility of their leaders. As far as northern Nigeria is concerned, that time is now.
We the youths of northern Nigeria have reached a stage whereby our collective silence has become betrayal to posterity.
To redress the irresponsibility of our political leaders, we must examine the hierarchy of leadership and focus at persons at the apex from which power naturally flows down.
The weight of political power in northern Nigeria rests on the shoulders of Arch. Namadi Sambo, who as the vice president of Nigeria, holds the highest political office in the region, hence being number one citizen of northern Nigeria.
A critical examination of the antecedents of the vice president reveals a leader who is out of touch with the reality of his region and who has deliberately distanced himself from the plight of his people.
As the most senior political office holder in the north, he has not made any efforts towards addressing the spate of insurgency and other forms of crisis ravaging the north.
We are convinced beyond doubt that the vice president has become blind to the systemic genocide and economic destruction taking place in northern Nigeria, particularly his home state Kaduna.
To date, the vice president has not made any pragmatic move towards accomplishing any crisis resolution effort in the north, nor has he attracted any major development project to his home state or northern region in general. Under his watch, Northern Nigeria has indeed witnessed an unprecedented socio-economic downturn.
It is against this backdrop that We the Northern Anti-Corruption Front pass a vote of no confidence in the leadership of Arch. Namadi Sambo. We are given him a 14-day ultimatum to kick start a realistic peace resolution process involving elders, youth leaders, political leaders and all other relevant stakeholders in the region.
His inability to do this after the expiration of this ultimatum, shall lead to his declaration as the number one enemy of the north.
