Buhari Despotic: Court Strikes Out Defamation Suit By Buhari Against AIT

NewsRescue

Justice John Tsoho of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday struck out a defamation suit filed last year by President Muhammadu Buhari against DAAR Communications, owner of the African Independent Television, Punch is reporting.

AIT had aired some documentaries in which it portrayed now president, Muhammadu Buhari as a despotic ruler during his first stint as president of Nigeria in the 80s. Buhari at the time was condemned for selectively locking up governors, selectively imprisoning Shagari’s Christian deputy while keeping the president he overthrew at ease under house arrest; for jailing Fela Kuti and other right activists and several other offenses.

Buhari was also accused of his role in instigating 2011 post election violence when he carried up a pen that looked like a spear in video of a campaign rally and told his fans to fight INEC to defend their votes.
