Catholic Women Society Kafanchan Diocese have declared support for Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the forthcoming elections in the state.
The support was declared at the annual women conference of the diocese holding in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking when they received the governor, The Chaplain Zumuntan Mata Kafanchan Diocese, Rev. Henry P. Boman said the decision of the women to support Yero during the election is as a result of the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in most parts of the state.
He said Governor Yero also shown commitment to ensuring that Christians in the state practice their religion in free and secured environment.
“it is during his administration that for the first time Christian pilgrims were flown directly from Kaduna International Airport to Jerusalem.”
Also speaking, leader of the Catholic Women Society, Lady Angelina Tanko thanked the governor for creating time to grace the event.
The governor was conveyed round the conference venue where thousands of elated women praised him for displaying “fairness and equity in leadership of the state.”
Governor Yero thanked the women for their show of support while pledging that his administration will continue to be fair to all citizens irrespective of perceived differences.
The Governor also requested the Women to pray for the peaceful conduct of the forthcoming elections as well as sustained peace in the State and the Nation in general.
Kafanchan Diocese comprised women from Kafanchan Deanery, Kagoro Deanery, Zonkwa Deanery, Saminaka Deanery and Damakasuwa Deanery.
