FOX News’ Tucker Carlson Under Fire For Radically Re-writing Jan 6 Narrative

NewsRescue

On Tuesday, Fox News and its host Tucker Carlson faced backlash from lawmakers and the White House for their portrayal of the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Carlson was accused of presenting a false narrative of the events by manipulating footage from the attack and portraying it as a largely peaceful “sight-seeing” visit.

The criticism came after Carlson aired clips from the Capitol security footage that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had given him. Carlson’s broadcast attempted to downplay the violence and chaos of the attack, which was perpetrated by supporters of then-President Donald Trump.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was among the most vocal critics of Carlson and McCarthy, condemning their actions as “shameful” and “treacherous”. He accused Carlson of manipulating his viewers and treating American democracy with disdain and called on Fox news’ Robert Murdoch to censor him.

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger also criticised Carlson for airing “cherry-picked” footage that failed to provide context about the violence that happened during the attack. Manger’s comments came in a letter to his force’s members, in which he called out Carlson for his comments about Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick.

Despite the criticism, Carlson defended his broadcast, claiming that most of the 40,000 hours footage did not show an insurrection or a riot in progress but showed tens of thousands peacefully protesting.

During his broadcast, Carlson showed footage of the “QAnon Shaman” walking through the Capitol being guided by police officers who even attempted to open doors for him.

Tucker said these videos were denied to “QAnon Shama’s” defense team and he now sits in jail on a four year sentence.

He questioned why the public has not had access to all these hours of footage 2 years later, questioning an agenda by both democrats and republicans.

He also blamed Nancy Pelosi who was in charge of the police at the capitol and who he said rather than be reprimanded, was rewarded for the failed policing.

Dozens of videos have since appeared across most mainstream media outlets in a frantic organized mob sleuth, publishing slanderous descriptions of Tucker’s person and character.
