As Zenith bank of Nigeria is embroiled in the Ekiti election N4.7 billion financing scandal that has led to the arrest of aides of Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, the Central Bank governor of Nigeria is under the lens for being in charge of the bank when the criminal transfers were made.

Godwin Emefiele was appointed CBN governor by Goodluck Jonathan in June of 2014. This appointment was as his bank was transferring billions of naira to the Ekiti state Fayose governorship campaign.

There have been calls for the sack of the Apex bank governor for being at the forefront of the illegal transfers and looting of the Apex bank during the Dasuki-Jonathan era. The Buhari government is yet to react.
