The notorious governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima has “justified” why he did not call Presdent Goodluck Jonathan for three full weeks after the abduction of 234 girls from a school in Chibok in March of 2014.
The governor told PremiumTimes that he expected Jonathan to call him and that “he immediately launched efforts to rescue the girls, and became too busy to reach out to the president.”
There have been calls fo the investigation of the Borno state governor for aiding and abetting Boko Haram terror in his state and taking advantage of the insurgency to buy up properties and land in the state while coveting millions in security votes.
The abduction of the girls was such a humongous national security issue that it provoked activists and other ordinary people initiating the Bring back our girls movement before it garnered any response form both the State governor and Nigeria’s then president.
Governor Shettima had further been accused of causing the abduction by opening the school and ordering WAEC examinations council to proceed with the final exams against security warnings.
Wonders will never end, they say.
