The All Progressive Youth Forum (APYF), Lagos State Chapter has advised youths across the country to come out and register as members with the All Progressive Congress (APC) during its registration drive that will take place from Wednesday 5th February to Monday 10th February, 2014.
In a short statement issued yesterday in Lagos by the interim secretary Mr Mohammed Brimah, the APYF’s Lagos State Interim Chairman, Mr. Olusegun Dada opined that “Youths should actively participate in politics or stop complaining about bad leadership”.Part of the statement reads; “If we all stay aloof, charlatans will continue to be in charge of governance, which will affect youths negatively in the long run.”
“In Nigeria, the Youth accounts for over 80million of our population. Just around 70million people registered to vote in the 2011 elections. But, imagine if 50million youth had registered, we could have swayed the election outcome our way.
He continued, “The APC represents the CHANGE we all desire. However, if we must see the CHANGE, then, we must partake in the politicking process by registering as members of the All Progressive Congress.
“For those who desire to be members of the All Progressive Youth Forum (APYF), your APC membership card will serve as a pre-requisite before you can be considered for membership of the youth forum.
“We have issued publicity materials to APYF local government coordinators in Lagos State, who would be moving round all the polling units in their local government to ensure smooth registration.
The Lagos Interim Chairman who said the APC membership registration will take place at all INEC polling unit across the country within the days allotted for it, enjoined Nigerians of voting age to register and encourage others to register as members as well.
