Few weeks ago, I announced on Facebook that I will create time out of no time to analyse all the Presidential aspirants of the National Association of Nigerians Students (NANS) for the real Nigerian Students to know the quality and capacity of any students leader they want to vote as their next President.
Before you get me wrong, I am no longer a student of any higher institution in Nigeria but I am a product of NANS and Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, as its stand now, I am a stakeholder in NANS, as such, I have taken upon myself in throwing more light to the general public on those contesting for NANS Presidency in the Zone ‘B’ (South-East and South-South).
It is on records that I am the only young person in Nigeria that’s having the documents that NANS was formed in Ahmadu Bello University in 1980 after the first President of NANS from Yaba College of Technology, Comrade Danladi Oladele AKA Bala Lado, some of the documents (photocopies) were handed over to me in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in December, 2012 because of my closeness with him and almost all the NANS Presidents, that’s will a topic for another day.
Today, I want to Present to you Comrade Anya S. Anya for NANS President, presently a student of Agricultural Engineering in Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo State, former Vice President (Special Duties) of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
One good thing about him is that he’s very articulate, in fact they called him an “ORATOR”, and he has no any problem with any individual whatsoever in the Students and Youth movement in Nigeria, a friend to all and an enemy to none but that’s not enough reason for Nigerian Students to vote for him.
A seasonal activist is not good enough to lead Nigerian Students to the promise land but experience may counts if the need be, some of his contemporaries are already in the National Assemblies, State House of Assemblies, Former SSA’s, SA’s, PA’s to the Governors, Ministers, Senators, House of Rep’s and to the immediate past President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Though, in a conversation with him recently in Owerri, he said “Different Student Union Presidents from the Northern and Southern Nigeria pleaded with me to lead Nigerian Students to another positive level, that was the reason why the decision to salvage the interest and welfare of Nigerian Students becomes imperatives”.
He asserted further ” I have had the privileged of restoring over 20 politically expelled Nigerian Students in their various campus across the Nation”.
Activism is a very good thing but their should be limitation to everything in life, recently I met with some young people in Portharcout Airport complaining bitterly that why are old men in the Nigerian political scene are being recycling for leadership position in our Country as if the young one’s are not ripe to take over the leadership of Nigeria, like Nigeria like NANS, everything is the same.
I read throughout the profile of Anya S. Anya and I found one interesting part of his Aim and Objectives “We shall not identify with any policy (ies) that will affect the interests and welfare of Nigerian Students but will encourage and support good ones from all quarters/government/managements”.
As I write, I spoke with my leader the first NANS President Mr Danladi Oladele of Oyo State, as an elder stateman he cautioned me not to be bias in my analysis, in his words “Dallah, I support you in totality to analyse all the Presidential Aspirant in NANS Zone ‘B’ but never you take side with any of the candidate in the race, they are all our brothers, so treat them equally in your write ups and May Allah bless you”.
Therefore, without sounding sensational, there is no doubt that Comrade Anya S. Anya is a calm and intelligent young man who would run a successful Government in NANS if elected as the next NANS President. But passions and interests are running so high that even some of leaders and my brothers have left their lucrative business in Abuja and relocated back to South-East to line up for NANS Presidency.
There are some agitation from some quarters pressuring Comrade Anya S. Anya to step aside for other comrades to contest since he contested 5years ago against Comrade Jude Imagwe MON, former SSA on Youth and Student matters to PGEJ, if I will have my ways I may ask Comrade Anya to withdraw from the race and forge ahead with his business.
Notwithstanding, the incumbent President Comrade Tijani Usman Shehu of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria tenure is will expired by next year but any candidate he decides to support might finally get the key to the leadership of NANS based on the recent history and traditions of NANS.
The series will continue next week with SHERIFISM.
