On a Sunday morning, when Nigerians were still taking a deserved rest owing to the stress of the previous week exertion and the merriment that accompanies the Eid-el-Kabir festivity, the news broke of a certain PDP gubernatorial candidate and serial crude oil theft – Jarret Tenebe from Edo State running a chain-like syndicate of international network who indulge in ferrying Nigeria’s stolen crude oil to Ghana.
The Senate Committee Chairman on Ecology and Environment, and Senator representing Kwara Central, Bukola Saraki again expressed his growing concerns with the country’s inability to abate oil theft. Below is the storified tweet from the Senator as compiled from his Twitter handle (@BukolaSaraki)
Stopping #OilTheft make it impossible for them to be able to move or sell the oil. People are stealing because they have government backing.
I say it with ALL confidence. Regardless of whoever becomes APC Presidential candidate, if HE/She becomes president; We will STOP OIL THEFT
Oil field in Ghana that does 100k Barrels a day, all of a sudden started delivering 400k Barrels. Now exposed 300k is Nigeria’s stolen oil
At $105 per barrel for crude, Nigeria is not saving, PDP & APC states barely meeting obligations. What will happen if Crude falls below $90?
