Eight suspected Fulani herdsmen, alleged to have taken part in the recent massacre in Agatu area of Benue State, have been arrested by operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT.
The suspects, also alleged to have carried out several kidnappings across the country, are currently being detained at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, after being rounded up recently.
A source said they were arrested following credible intelligence reports that linked them to the acts.
Vanguard gathered that the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, acting on the orders of the presidency to fish-out herdsmen behind the Agatu, Enugu and kidnapping across the country, deployed the IRT operatives to Kogi, Enugu and Kaduna states.
Sources disclosed that the IRT operatives, while in Kogi State, raided several hideouts within Lokoja, Okene, Kabba and Obajana areas of the State and arrested the suspects.
