Pope: Please Pray, Fast, “Cry for Peace” and No Obama Military Strike on Syria

Sept. 7, 2013

NewsRescue- The Catholic Church has called for this Saturday to be a global day of fasting and praying for peace.

Pope Francis yesterday urged both Catholics and non-Catholics to join together in the day of fasting and prayer.

“Let the cry for peace rise up across the Earth!” He urged.

The Vatican has invited ambassadors accredited to the Holy See to attend a briefing today on the Pope’s agenda for the four-hour vigil on Saturday night. Bishops around the world have also announced plans to host local versions of the vigil.

Joining with the Church, the Sunni Muslim leader of Syria, Grand Mufti Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, called for Syrians to join in the prayers.

The spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodox Church, Constantinople Bartholomew I, also recommended the Catholic prayer.

While condemning the use of Chemical weapons by whichever side, Pope Francis has strongly objected to a military attack against Syria. He sent a letter to the G20 summit strongly imploring them not to strike Syria.

“War never again! Never again war!”

Pope Francis tweeted, which are the same words used by previous popes after the Second World War, including Pope John Paul II who published the same phrase in his calls for peace in Bosnia after 911 and in Iraq.

CNN noted that this is a first where a Pope is making such strong call before and not after the war.

The Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon has also strongly objected to any Unilateral military invasion of Syria.

A globally famous Nigerian Spiritual Pastor, T. B. Joshua has predicted that if Syria is struck, there will be notable event of humility and several years of great doom across the Middle East.
