Protests In Maiduguri Over Insecurity, Boko Haram Penetration, Government Denial

NewsRescue

The residents of Jiddari Polo area of Maiduguri took street protests to the authorities Thursday over what they regarded as the continued insecurity of the capital against Boko Haram attacks.

The protests were responded to by the Deputy governor of the State who promised to take their complaints to the military.

The frustrated residents complained that there was no security presence at the capital boundaries and that the terrorists were still in formations close to the capital, able to launch further attacks.

The residents also complained about the government’s false media propaganda of safety and the military denial of the truth of their situation and the nature of the successful Boko Haram attacks on them three days ago.
