Saraki Told To Better Retain His Lawyers Or Settle For State Lawyers

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) today ruled that it would continue hearing the case of Senate President Bukola Saraki’s financial misconduct, despite an appeal filed in the Supreme Court, which the disparaged Senate President hoped, would halt the CCT proceedings.

When the CCT Justices announced this ruling, Mr. Saraki’s legal counsel stormed out of the court announcing that they would withdraw their services in protest. The drama escalated when the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Umar Danladi, told Mr. Saraki that he would need to engage the services of other legal counsel and that failure to do so would result in him receiving state lawyers.

Justice Danladi adjourned the case to November 19th where hearings would continue.
