Reports reaching us have it that the ex-Governor Sheriff’s convoy was pelted with stones and satcheted water around the Shehuri North and
Lawan Bukar axis of the metropolis this evening by angry youths.

Lawan Bukar and Shehuri North were among the worst areas hit by the Boko Haram crisis when Sheriff held sway was Governor.

Adding to this public demonstrated anger and rejection, the Shehu of Borno shunned the former Governor who was at the Shehu’s Palace to pay the usual traditional homage shortly on his arrival to Maiduguri today. Ex-governor Sheriff, a named sponor of Boko Haram was told that the Shehu of Borno was out of the Palace.

An eye witness said a humiliated Sheriff then decided to hurriedly leave the Shehu’s Palace and headed towards Lawan Bukar area where some angry youths pelted his convoy with stones despite the tight security given to him.

In the process the vehicle conveying Mutawalli Kashim Imam had its windscreen shattered, while the youths chanted “Ba ma so, Boko
Haram leaders.”

KSM News had earlier sighted a rented crowd of people at the UTC building of ex-Gov Sheriff.

The crowd were not up to 300, according to our estimation.

Speaking to a cross section of residents, News learnt that many residents of Maiduguri were not happy as the over 500 security men provided for Sheriff’s visit disrupted many business activities in the city. Many motorists spoken to were also not happy with the stringent road blocks mounted by the security.
