A video has emerged of President Goodluck Jonathan confessing that a slain leader of the deadly Boko Haram terrorist sect Mohammed Yusuff, is a friend to alleged sponsor of the sect, former governor Ali Modu Sheriff, who also happens to be a close confidant of the president.

The video also reminds of Jonathan’s passive attitude to Boko Haram where he has been criticized as having been too slow and weak in his response to terror, thereby leading to the current genocide spate in Nigeria’s north

The sect had gain notoriety by killing thousands of innocent civilians in its campaign to outlaw western education and enthrone a strict version of Islamic law in Nigeria.

The group had early this year abducted more than 250 schoolgirls from their hostel in Chibok, Borno State. It also recently abducted another 185 this week.

The Nigerian authorities are yet to rescue the girls, nor confirm their status.

Ali Modu Sheriff had before now been accused of sponsoring the sect, but this is the first time the President is publicly confirming that one of his associate is directly involved with the sect.

An Australian negotiator Steven Davis, had in August accused the former Borno governor of sponsoring the sect, but the Department of State Security DSS, this week gave the president’s friend a clean ‘bill of health’.

However, in a new twist, President Jonathan oblivious of the video camera recording the proceedings of an event, named former governor Ali Modu Sheriff as a close friend and confidant of the slain boko Haram founder, Mr. Mohammed Yusuff.
