Suspected drone hits oil terminal in Sevastopol – governor

NewsRescue

According to preliminary information supplied by local governor Mikhail Razvozhayev, an unmanned aerial vehicle targeted an oil storage facility in the city of Sevastopol on Saturday morning.

“Every security and rescue service is present.” “The fire area is approximately 1,000 square meters,” Razvozhayev posted on Telegram at 5 a.m. local time, alleging a possible UAV strike.

Multiple eyewitness videos show a massive fire lighting up the night sky. After-dawn footage shows a plume of black smoke engulfing the sky over the city.

“There is no threat to civilian infrastructure,” the governor said from the spot. Authorities encouraged residents to remain calm as at least 60 firemen, 18 engines, and a fire train battled the incident.

Earlier this week, the city was targeted by two naval drones, one of which was destroyed by Russian forces and the other of which self-detonated in the outer port, causing no harm to Sevastopol’s facilities.

The vital port city, located on the southwest coast of Crimea, which joined Russia following a referendum in 2014, is home to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet and has been repeatedly targeted by drone strikes since Moscow commenced its military operation in Ukraine in February.
