A security source has confirmed to SaharaReporters that more than 40 people have been killed by unknown gunmen in a mining field in Zamfara State, north-western part of Nigeria.
According to our source, gunmen wielding an assortment of weapons went on a killing spree by attacking workers at a mining field in Bindim village located in Maru local government area of the State. Our source also disclosed that numerous people were seriously injured, with some people currently missing.
The source said there was still no group that has claimed responsibility for the deadly assault, adding that the motive remained a mystery as well.
