A young woman’s head was discovered decapitated in Texas. According to police, the victim’s husband confessed to the “gruesome” murder.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies with the Waller County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a deceased woman. When police arrived at the crime scene, they discovered a deceased woman at the address provided.
Inside the house, police discovered the body of a 21-year-old woman. The victim had been beheaded, and her head was not found inside the small house with the body. Police discovered a knife, which they believe was used in the murder. The victim’s head was also discovered on the property by investigators.
“It was a portion of a body, dismembered, and a residence that was covered in blood — a gruesome scene, at best,” Waller County Sheriff Troy Guidry told reporters on Thursday.
Jared James Dicus was discovered at the residence by police. On his family’s property, he lived in a small cottage. Dicus was the victim’s husband, identified as Anggy Diaz.
In late October 2022, the couple married.
Trey Duhon, a Waller County judge, posted on Facebook:
I’m sure many of you heard about an incident yesterday in Waller County’s Oak Hollow area in which a young man was arrested and charged with murdering his wife. This involved a young couple whom I will marry in October 2022. They were a very nice young couple during my brief time with them. As many of you, I am deeply saddened and shocked by the news of this tragic event, and my thoughts and prayers go out to all of their families.
Authorities said Dicus’ father called deputies to the couple’s home on the family’s property about the murdered woman.
Dicus and his parents were questioned about the young woman’s murder. Dicus confessed to decapitating and murdering his wife, according to Sheriff Guidry.
Dicus was arrested and charged with his wife’s murder.
“Evidence shows the suspect used a kitchen knife,” Guidry said.
The sheriff went on to say, “Everything took place on the property. And all of the parts and pieces were recovered and turned in as evidence.”
“There have been previous disturbance calls, but nothing to this effect, to this level of violence,” Guidry said.
Diaz, the sheriff said, is a Nicaraguan citizen who is “undocumented.”
The decapitation murder investigation is still ongoing.
