Trump taunts Biden that FBI should raid White House

Former US President Donald Trump, whose home was raided by the FBI last year for a stash of classified documents, has urged the bureau to pursue his successor, Joe Biden. Trump cited reports that classified documents had been discovered at a think tank affiliated with Biden.

“When is the FBI going to raid the many homes of Joe Biden, perhaps even the White House? “These documents were not declassified,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform, referring to a CBS News report that broke the story.

The US Department of Justice, according to the outlet, is conducting a preliminary investigation into how “roughly 10” classified documents originating from Joe Biden’s office during his time as US vice president ended up in a box at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement. The think tank is named after the current president and is based in Washington, DC. The documents were allegedly discovered by Biden’s attorneys in early November, and the National Archives took possession of them shortly thereafter.

In August, the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club and residence for classified materials, which he refused to turn over to the National Archives after leaving office. The agency allegedly seized 300 documents, some of which were nuclear-related.

Trump is currently being investigated for allegedly violating the Presidential Records Act by newly appointed special counsel Jack Smith. He has denied any wrongdoing and claimed that the FBI and the Department of Justice were conducting a “witch hunt” against him.

Despite all of the criticism directed at his father, Donald Trump Jr. responded to the latest news on Twitter, predicting that “nothing will happen” as a result of the discovery of Biden’s classified files.

According to CBS News, mishandling classified materials does not always result in criminal charges, citing the case of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who kept secret documents on her private email server after leaving office.
