According to emergency officials, an oil refinery caught fire in the Krasnodar Region of southern Russia on Friday morning. According to the Baza news outlet, the fire started after a Ukrainian drone attacked the building.
Baza shared a video of the Ilsky Oil Refinery spewing black smoke. The fire was promptly extinguished, and no one was injured, according to emergency services.
Several drones also assaulted the complex early Thursday morning, causing a fire to break out.
Since Moscow initiated its military operation in Ukraine in February 2022, UAVs have struck a number of facilities in Russia, including oil refineries and depots, as well as military airfields.
Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev stated on Thursday that a drone was shot down by air defences near Crimea’s Belbek airfield.
Drones attacked oil terminals in Rostov Region and Crimea last week. The Ukrainian army’s southern command spokesperson, Natalya Gumenyuk, claimed the invasion in Crimea was part of a “broad, large-scale offensive” planned by Kiev.
Russia reported on Wednesday that two Ukrainian drones attempted to attack the Kremlin in an attempt to assassinate President Vladimir Putin, who was not at his Moscow house at the time. Kiev denied any role in the raid.
