The Federal Government has again accused the APC National leader and former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, as the mastermind behind the violent Islamic sect known as the Boko Haram.

In a statement posted on Twitter, The Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, said Boko Haram came to existence after the threat made by Senator Bola Tinubu’s friend that they will make the country ungovernable for the government.

Though Obanikoro did not clearly state who the friends are but investigations shows he may be referring to the National Leader of the APC, General Mohammed Buhari and some other chieftains in the party.

He said, “The Boko Haram mess we are dealing with was created by Tinubu’s friends who promised to make Nigeria ungovernable for this Government.”

Few days ago, Obanikoro condemned youths for promoting Boko Haram attacks online by posting pictures and spreading gory stories in the news and on the internet but days later, he was caught in the act by politicising the menace rather than doubling up strategies and efforts to rescue the kidnapped 217 Chibok girls who are still being held by the dreaded Islamic sect for more than two months now.

Expatiating on the issue, Obanikoro said that the opposition party should support the Federal Government to clear that mess that has already overwhelmed President Goodluck Jonathan and has caused a siege on developmental progress in the country.

“Tinubu and politicians like him should devote their time and efforts towards supporting the Government in fighting Boko Haram.”, he said.

In view of the current security challenge, Obanikoro called on the former Governor to focus on the future of the nation and not the governorship election scheduled to hold in Osun State by August.

“I hope Tinubu knows that attacking Obanikoro over Ekiti is crying over spilt milk. We have bigger issues to deal with as a nation. Real leaders think about the future of their nation, not the next election.” he said.
