Buhari As Corrupt As Abacha – Sule Lamido Tells BBC

– Sule Lamido says President Buhari’s anti-corruption war is just noise

– Lamido says the president was also involved in corrupt practices during his days as PTF chairman under Abacha

– The former Jigawa state governor said he found it hard to believe that the money found by EFCC in Ikoyi, Lagos state belonged to National Intelligence Agency (NIA)

by Akinyemi Akinrujomu,

Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa state, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is not really fighting the war against corruption because he is corrupt himself.

Lamido told BBC Hausa Service that Buhari “equally corrupt when he served under the late Head of State Sani Abacha” and his present anti-corruption war is just ‘noise’.

A former foreign affairs minister, Lamido said Buhari, who served as chairman of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) that was established by Abacha in 1994 to provide important facilities across the country, dipped his hands in the national treasury as well.

Sule Lamido says he believes that President Buhari’s anti-corruption war is just noise. He said: “He (Buhari) worked under Abacha; in fact he was the closest to the late military ruler and when it comes to corruption, everybody knows where Abacha’s government stands.

“Buhari is just making noise; there’s no iota of truth in the so-called commitment to the improvement of security and halting graft in the country.”

Lamido faulted the EFCC’s discovery of huge amount of money in an apartment in Ikoyi in Lagos state and threw up questions on why the discovery is not believable to him.

He said: “It’s unthinkable to say that the EFCC had discovered huge monies (nearly N15 billion) in a building (Osborne Towers) in Lagos but could not track the real owner; who leaked the story? Who did the source say is the owner of the find?

“No reasonable person will believe that there is no safe for the NIA (which claimed ownership) to keep its money but a private residence in Lagos; those in position of authority should always have the courage to tell the led the truth because leadership is sacred.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com has gathered that Lamido himself might be interested in Buhari’s job as his 2019 presidential posters, on Thursday, April 6, surfaced at the secretariat of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state.

Reports say that the posters bearing Lamido’s picture were pasted at strategic areas of the secretariat right from the entrance. Read more: https://www.naij.com/1100386-buhari-corrupt-abacha-sule-lamido.html
