In a surprising turn of events, the former governor of Ekiti state, Peter Ayodele Fayose, has retired to bed early acknowledging Labour party candidate Peter Obi for retiring Atiku. He has also advised his fellow PDP presidential contestant, Atiku Abubakar, to accept defeat in maturity and retire peacefully to Dubai.

In a series of tweets posted on his official Twitter handle, Fayose expressed his admiration for Obi’s leadership qualities and his ability to secure a victory against all odds. He also took a swipe at the present managers of the PDP, stating that their actions are not representative of the party’s values.

Fayose went on to say that the PDP should stop hiding behind Peter Obi’s victory to pretend that they have a sense of patriotism that they don’t possess. He added that there is no sense of comradeship with Obi and that his victory was solely based on his potentials, which were overlooked during the party’s primary elections.

The former governor’s tweets have sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians, with some commending his maturity and sportsmanship while others criticise his choice of words. It remains to be seen how the PDP will react to this development and whether Atiku Abubakar will concede defeat and retire to Dubai as suggested by Fayose.

While the elections results have not yet been concluded, Peter Obi just clinched Nasarawa state to maintain a lead over 13 states in the yet released results.
