Nigeria has become a primary focal point for the Saudi Arabia politico-religious war against Iran. The consequences are dire.
Under the new Muhammadu Buhari administration which took over office in May of 2015, the nation with the largest population of Shia, ‘Iran-affiliated’ Muslims outside the Middle East and Asia, Nigeria with its roughly 9 million Shia Muslims is a major front in the Saudi war against Iran.
New York times, described how “for decades, Saudi Arabia has poured billions of its oil dollars into sympathetic Islamic organizations around the world, quietly practicing checkbook diplomacy to advance its agenda.”
A trove of thousands of Saudi documents recently released by WikiLeaks mid last year revealed in surprising detail how the Saudi government’s goal in recent years was not just to spread its strict version of Sunni Islam — though that was a priority — but also to undermine its primary adversary: Shiite Iran.
“The documents from Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry illustrate a near obsession with Iran, with diplomats in Africa, Asia and Europe monitoring Iranian activities in minute detail and top government agencies plotting moves to limit the spread of Shiite Islam.
Recent initiatives have included putting foreign preachers on the Saudi payroll, building mosques, schools and study centers, and undermining foreign officials and news media deemed threatening to the kingdom’s agenda.
A $100 Billion Sponsored Agenda
‘“We are talking about thousands and thousands of activist organizations and preachers who are in the Saudi sphere of influence because they are directly or indirectly funded by them,” said Usama Hasan, a senior researcher in Islamic studies at the Quilliam Foundation in London. “It has been a huge factor, and the Saudi influence is undeniable.”’
“The Saudi government has made no secret of its international religious mission, nor of its enmity toward Iran.
“The trove mostly covered the period from 2010 to early 2015. It documents religious outreach coordinated by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, an interministerial body that King Salman dissolved in a government overhaul after his ascension this year.

The Times continued that Saudi ambassadors from across Africa were “told to file reports on Iranian activities in their countries. The Saudi ambassador to Uganda soon filed a detailed report on “Shiite expansion” in the mostly Christian country.
“A cable from the predominantly Muslim nation of Mali warned that Iran was appealing to the local Muslims, who knew little of ‘the truth of the extremist, racist Shiite ideology that goes against all other Islamic schools.'”
Zakzaky and the Islamic Movement of Nigeria
The same was done with Nigeria where reports on the growth of the Sheikh El-Zakzaky-led Islamic Movement of Nigeria were reported to the Saudi government. El-Zakzaky is a prominent leader of an estimated 15 million Shia Muslims centered in Nigeria and neighboring west African countries, and his influence has been growing.

It was not therefore surprising when a protest by suspected members of the Zakzaky-led Islamic movement of Nigeria invoked a wide-spread government massacre last December in Nigeria’s northern Zaria state.Hundreds were killed along with three sons of the leader, and he and his wife were shot several times and detained indefinitely.
The movement’s structures were destroyed across the state in a pogrom action from December 12th to the 14th that saw hundreds of Shia Muslims killed and secretly buried in a mass grave at Mando cemetery in Zaria.
The details below explain why the Buhari government will never release Sheikh Ibrahim el-Zakzaky and his wife who have been detained for almost a year without charges being filed against them.

At the center of the Saudi operations across the world are organisations of which the Muslim World League is primary and central.
“The Muslim World League (MWL) is a non-governmental organization that was founded in 1962 by members of the Saudi government—most notably then-Prince (later King) Faisal bin ‘Abd al-Aziz—to help globalize Wahhabism, the extremist form of Islam practiced in Saudi Arabia. Still controlled and funded by the Saudi government, the Mecca-based MWLtoday has 36 satellite offices on 5 continents.
“The Saudi government funded Muslim World League has personally disbursed over $100 billion dollars to propagate its agenda since its establishment in 1962.

While the Muslim World League is registered as an organisation that promotes Islam across the world, it has been classified as an organization that directly and through its affiliates sponsors extremism and terror.

TERRORIST FINANCE: ACTION REQUEST FOR SENIOR LEVEL ENGAGEMENT ON TERRORISM FINANCE
(S/NF) Saudi Arabia has enacted important reforms to criminalize terrorist financing and restrict the overseas flow of funds from Saudi-based charities. However, these restrictions fail to include &multilateral organizations such as the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), Muslim World League (MWL) and the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY.) Intelligence suggests that these groups continue to send money overseas and, at times, fund extremism overseas. In 2002, the Saudi government promised to set up a Charities Committee that would address this issue, but has yet to do so. The establishment of such a mechanism, however, is secondary to the primary U.S. goal of obtaining Saudi acknowledgement of the scope of this problem and a commitment to take decisive action.
“MWL has a long history of ties to, and financial support for, Islamic extremists, terrorist operatives, and terrorist organizations including Hamas, the Abu Sayyaf Group, al-Ittihaad al-Islami, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, Jemaat-al-Islamiyya, and al Qaeda. Moreover, a number of MWL’s subsidiaries, particularly the IIRO, have been involved in terrorist financing.
“From 1976-1980, Muzammil Siddiqi chaired the Department of Religious Affairs at MWL‘s Office to the United Nations. Siddiqi has praised Islamic suicide bombers as “those who die on the part of justice” and thus reside “with the Lord” in a place of “the highest honor.” He also has predicted “the victory of Islam in Palestine” by means of jihad, which he describes as “the path” and “the way [for Muslims] to receive the honor.”
“In 1979, then-King Abdulaziz University president Abdullah Omar Naseef—an Islamic extremist with a significant history of ties to al Qaeda—founded the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs (IMMA), which, according to former Assistant United States Attorney Andrew McCarthy, seeks to “grow an unassimilated, aggressive population of Islamic supremacists in the west.
The United States has thus far not been able to fully classify the Muslim World League as a terror organisation due to pressures from the wealthy Saudi Arabian government.
Breitbart News reported that just a month after 9/11, Newsweek claimed that the Muslim World League — the parent organization of WAMY with connections to Huma Abedin — was removed from a list of terror funders under pressure from Saudi Arabia.

The Muslim World League, parent of WAMY (World Arab Muslim Youth) association is again implicated in terror sponsorship according to the 28-pages declassified by the US congress this July.
Page 24 of the 28 Pages report discusses Osama bin Laden’s half-brother and says in part:
According to the FBI. Abdullah Bin Ladin has a number of connections to terrorist organizations. He is the President and Director of the World Arab Muslim Youth Association (WAMY) and the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Science in America. Both organizations are local branches of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
According to the FBI, there is reason to believe that WAMY is “closely associated with the funding and financing of international terrorist activities and in the past has provided logistical support to individuals wishing to fight in the Afghan War.” In 1998, the CIA published a paper characterizing WAMY as a NGO that provides funding. logistical support and training with possible connections to the Arab Afghans network, Hamas, Algerian extremists and Philippine militants.
The Muslim World League Nigeria Set-up
The Nigerian chief agent of the Muslim World League is one Kaduna-based radical Sheikh, Abdullah Bala Lau who is the National Chairman Of Jama’atu Izalatil Bidi’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah, JIBWIS organization, better known as the Izala sect.
Bala Lau bows to President Buhari
Bala Lau is vocal in his campaigns against Shia Muslims and in a video recording right after the Zaria massacre and secret burial of hundreds of Shia Muslims last year, he commended the Kaduna state government for the action and invited Suffi groups like the Tijanniyya order, the largest Muslim body in Nigeria headed by Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi to join his Izala sect in “chasing and prosecuting” Shia Muslims across Nigeria.
Bala Lau’s words:
“I swear by Allah, for Allah, to Allah, if the insults of the prophet’s wife and companions continues, only God knows the calamity that await this country. And if the Islamic Shari’a exist, whoever is doing such, I am calling on the Suffis of Tijjaniyyah, the Suffis of Khadiriyyah and all other Suffis to come out and preach to the people about the position and title of the prophet’s companions, do not agree, let’s unite on this, do not agree with insults on the prophet’s companions.
“Let’s set a law, whoever insults the companions of the prophet, or the prophet’s wife, let’s catch him and punish him based on Islamic regulations if he says he is a Muslim.
“If he says he is not a Muslim, let’s know that he is an infidel or Christian because the Christians already say that they are their (the Shias) brothers. The origin of Shi’a itself comes from the Jews.
“I pray that Allah will give us the courage to take this decision, to rein justice on them according to the Islamic Law; give them the penalty of insulting the prophet (suggesting death) because, insulting the prophet’s wife is insulting the prophet, likewise his companions.
“Brothers in Islam, we pray for peace to reign in this country. May Allah bless the President, may Allah protect him and bless him.”
An invitation Dahiru Bauchi vehemently rejected in an audio message while describing Bala Lau and his Izala sect as partners with Boko Haram terrorist organisation and part of the global “wahhabi Saudi extremist network.”
Boko Haram in its recent messages has coincidentally turned focus on Shia Islam, while the group has largely abandoned attacks and engaged in positive negotiations with the Nigerian government.
Bala Lau’s Manara Wahhabi Satellite TV And Radio Station Operating from Nigeria
Bala Lau already runs a TV and radio propaganda station in Nigeria, of course built with MWL funds. He launched this last year under Buhari.
In a bid to spread true Islamic teachings, new radio and television channels have been launched by a leading Nigerian Islamic group, serving as a lighthouse in West Africa.
Sheikh Bala Lau, chairman of Jama’atu Izalatul Bidah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), said the initiative was launched because “We want to change the entire Muslim Ummah’s lives through Manara, in area of preaching to them to do the right thing and always avoid anything capable of breaching the peace,”
The aim of the station is as below, the “promote teaching ‘true Islam’ in Nigeria.” This means it is a Wahhabi propaganda machine in the country.
The office in Nigeria is just a studio, while Bala Lau said the satellite broadcast is by “brothers outside Nigeria,” referring to the MWL and other Saudi instruments.
Manara TV is reported to have received N500 million Dasuki gate arms money.

In March of this year, Bala Lau brought the Saudis to Nigeria for a conference on “peace and stability.” Hallmark of the conference is the establishment of a wahhabi ideology mega center in Nigeria.
The Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulmohsen Al-Turki was received by Bala Lau at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport when he arrived in his private jet as the Saudis confirmed to the disappointment of many Nigerians that President Buhari had signed Nigeria up as part of a so-called Saudi coalition against terror, whose ulterior motive is seen to be the Kingdom’s campaign against Shia Islam.
“Saudi Arabia has confirmed that Nigeria is among a coalition of 34 countries that Saudi Arabia will lead in its fight against global Islamic terrorists, chief among them, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
“The Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Nigeria, Fahad bin Abdullah disclosed this at the reception for the leader of the Wahabi Global Congress, Sheikh Abul-Muhsin Abdallah at-Turki.

On September 11, 2001 Huma Abedin — Hillary Clinton’s aide for twenty years and co-chair of her current Presidential run — was working for an organization located in the offices of Saudi Arabia’s Muslim World League.
That’s a Wahhabist Islamic group that Breitbart News recently reported was going to be put on a list of terror funders by U.S. government but was removed, reportedly under pressure from Saudi Arabia.
This latest revelation ties the Muslim World League directly to the The Institute for Muslim Minority Affairs and the Journal for Muslim Minority Affairs, an organization that Vanity Fair writer William D. Cohan called “the Abedin family business.”

Syed Abedin in 1978 founded the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs, a think tank which began publishing the journal a year later, with the support of Abdullah Omar Naseef, at the time president of King Abdulaziz University. Later, between 1983 and 1993, Naseef was secretary-general of the Muslim World League, a pan-Islamic nongovernmental organization. (Interestingly, in 1983, Naseef was also awarded the Bronze Wolf, bestowed by the World Scout Committee for “outstanding service to the World Scout Movement.”)

WND was first to report Huma’s mother, Saleha Abedin, was the official representative of Naseef’s terror-stained Muslim World League in the 1990s. Less than one month after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, Newsweek reported that the Muslim World League was used by terror mastermind Osama bin Laden to to finance his operations:
“Two interrelated global charities directly financed by the Saudi government – the International Islamic Relief Organization and the Muslim World League – have been used by bin Laden to finance his operations. The organizations were left off the list of groups sanctioned by the United States last week, U.S. officials hinted to Newsweek, in order to avoid embarrassing the Saudi government.”

Huma Abedin is currently being investigated by the FBI for emails found on her husband’s computer which had been hidden by Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton.

As the Middle East goes up in flames with millions of Arabs fleeing to Europe to seek asylum, Nigeria sits on a box of gunpowder, as the same agenda that set the Arab world in flames has been introduced to Nigeria under its new leadership.

After the Iraqi city of Mosul fell to a lightning Isis offensive in 2014, even the late Prince Saud al-Faisal, the respected Saudi foreign minister, remonstrated with John Kerry, US secretary of state, that “Daesh [Isis] is our [Sunni] response to your support for the Da’wa” — the Tehran-aligned Shia Islamist ruling party of Iraq. Interestingly, the Middle East with exclusion of Egypt in Africa has slightly more “Shia” Muslims than “Sunni” Muslims with as much as 15% of the population being Shia in Saudi Arabia, the root of Islam.
Ruled by the house of Saud, Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world named after a family.
With Africa excluded, the Saudi royals feel like a minority in the Middle East and this perhaps fuels their anxiety.
The recent full ban of the Islamic Movement and deadly clampdown on Shia Islam with radical citizens transported by police to together pursue and kill Shia Muslims and burn their properties, demonstrates the formalization of the government policy to pursue the Saudi-wahhabi Muslim World League agenda in Nigeria.
