Hashimu Suleiman, the young man who promised to walk to Nigeria’s capital Abuja when Buhari wins has fulfilled his promise.

Hashimu arrived Abuja to a large welcoming crowd including journalists and well wishers Monday. The 33 year-old took just over 22 days to make the 747 kilometer journey.

He had had some interesting experiences in the journey as we published before including accounts with robbers and a royal welcome at Bida by the Emir of Suleja, Sarkin Zazzau.

Doubting Thomases

Nigeria always has these. Some who tried to discredit his account questioned how fast his journey was.

NewsRescue experts confirm that a healthy young man can comfortably walk 70km/day with twelve hour shifts and night sleeps, thus Hashimu could easily complete the journey in 11 days with two to spare.

Travelers along the roads has frequently encountered him and waved at him as they plied the routes on their cyclic trips to the various cities he traversed.

Hashimu spent nights at Zangos, traveler communities, and hosted by embracing Samaritans many of whom had heard of his journey.

A philanthropist has booked nights in Abuja Hilton to accommodate the trekker.

Presidente Buhari has promised to meet with Hashimu who was welcomed in Abuja by an unprecedented crowd complete with police.
