Is The Briton Ogwuche A Terrorist Or Is The DSS The Terrorist?

Sadiq Ogwuche

Nigerians need to know the answer to this question; and fast. Is the so-called terror suspect in the April 14th Nyanya bus park bombing, Aminu Ogwuche, who was publicly extradited from Sudan in a show of government agency “efficiency” in apprehending the “suspects” behind the terror attack that shamed Nigeria at the time of the international Abuja summit, really a terrorist or was it all simply a dirty scam to make the Jonathan administration look good in the face of international observers?

El-Rufai luxury Bus park, Nyanya, Abuja was bombed on April 14th of 2014 in a single-day terror incident that led to 75 dead. It was the most deadly incident of terror up till the Kano #RedFriday Central Mosque terror attack November 28th. Immediately after the Nyanya attack, the erstwhile inefficient Department of State Security, DSS that has constantly failed to apprehend terror suspects and masterminds behind the thousands of events around the nation for the past five years, apprehended and paraded 5 suspects and declared two others, Rufai Abubakar Tsiga (a.k.a. Dr. Tsiga) and Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, wanted.

By the end of April, less than two weeks after the Nyanya bombing and about 10 days before the commencement of the World Economic Forum in Abuja (May 7-9), the Nigerian Orientation office started making all these announcements of their success in “unraveling” and arresting those behind the Nyanya bombing. In fact, it was a show of decent efficiency and almost made the Nigerian security department look solid.

Aminu Ogwuche from Orokam, Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State, was made to appear like he had fled to Sudan; however he attends school there and is a student of Arabic Language at the International University of Africa in Sudan. This was possibly why he was in Sudan; but his connection with Boko Haram and his role in the Abuja, Nyanya bombing has yet to be defined.

Aminu Ogwuche is not an every-day Joe. The Briton is a young man of unique privilege. Born in the UK to an army dad, Col. Agene Ogwuche, Aminu was in the Nigerian army till 2007 when he deserted. He travels around the world at will and was arrested in 2011 on November 12th at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on arrival from the United Kingdom on suspected terror-related activities but was suspiciously released on bail on October 15th of the next year to his army dad.

Why was Owuche released in 2012? Why was Owuche arrested in 2011? What were his charges and the evidence against him then? What has been the result of that investigation? Why and what does Ogwuche go to do in the United Kingdom? Does he have connections with foreign spy and intelligence agencies? Where has Ogwuche been to since his previous arrest? How many times has he gone to countries likt the UK, USA and France? Why is Ogwuche always sleek and able to escape sentencing as the same system that released him previously is again set to repeat? Is Ogwuche indeed a terror mastermind who operates freely and with impunity from/under the Jonathan-led government?

And if Ogwuche on the contrary, is not a terror leader and terror mastermind, then why did the Department of State Security have him accused and extradited in an act of authority terror? In latest developments, Ogwuche has demanded N100 million in compensation for “unlawful” detention without charge for the 3 months since his July 15 extradition; and the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF has been summoned. The ongoing is not only a let-down and dangerous embarrassment to the Department of State and ONSA (Dasuki’s office) but to all Nigerians.

Nigerians are not satisfied. Who is the terrorist? Ogwuche or the DSS? We need to see the culprits clearly defined, prosecuted and sentenced to death. It is time for masterminds of terror to suffer and die as do the “mere” masses. We have had enough impunity and Security department error and terror for simply too long; someone must be held to account.

People are dying and we are losing territory and livelihood as the nation’s north is being totally and irreversibly ruined. Can we have some seriousness here? Heads must roll!
