Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) would hold in 12 of the 27 local government areas in Bornu State due to the security challenges.
Professor Tukur Sa’ad, Borno State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), said this in Maiduguri yesterday when he visited the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Garbai.
The exercise which is scheduled to begin on November 28 will last six days and be conducted in areas considered safe.
According to Tukur: “The issuance of PVCs to registered voters will take place in only 12 local government areas considered to be relatively safe in Borno and will last six days.”
The commissioner also assured residents that it will work out modalities for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to vote in the 2015 elections.
