According to The Sunday Times, King Charles III’s personal wealth is £600 million ($745 million), making him more than 60% wealthier than his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. The tabloid estimated the queen’s personal assets at £370 million ($459 million) last year.

Charles earns money from the Duchy of Cornwall, a royal estate that contains 130,000 acres of land, 260 farms, and buildings throughout England and Wales, including a cricket ground in South London. The duchy is historically led by the eldest son of the reigning monarch.

Charles is said to have raised the duchy’s annual profits by 42.6% between 2011 and 2022 by selling diverse items such as biscuits and beer, as well as renting commercial facilities. According to The Sunday Times, the monarch got £212.7 million ($262.1 million) from the duchy alone between 2012 and 2022.

According to a former aide to the King who requested anonymity, the prince “became prudent at tucking away some money from the duchy” following his £17 million ($21 million) divorce settlement with Diana, Princess of Wales in 1996.

After his mother died in September 2022 at the age of 96, Charles ascended to the kingdom. She had reigned for more than 70 years, the longest reign of any monarch in British history.
