Kenya stated on Sunday that it is closing its embassy in Sudan’s capital, which is still engulfed in conflict. The station had remained open to aid with the evacuation of Kenyan people, but the war forced its closure, according to Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Singoei.
Kenya continues to “receive disturbing news of the targeting of diplomatic officials by armed groups in Khartoum, Sudan,” Singoei explained in a tweet.
Meanwhile, ten DRC residents were killed in Sudanese army strikes on the International University of Africa campus in Khartoum on Sunday, according to Congolese Foreign Minister Christophe Lutundula.
Clashes erupted in mid-April between Sudan’s army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). According to the UN, more than 860 people have died as a result of war, including 190 children.
